North Central Florida congresswoman Kat Cammack remembers veteran advocate Bruce Borders
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - North Central Florida Congresswoman Kat Cammack is remembering a man who advocated for veterans in our area.
Cammack says Bruce Borders, lovingly known by many as “Chicken Man,” was a friend to many people in our district.
She says he worked hard to make sure veterans received the military honors they earned and that widows were given the benefits they were owed.
In a statement, Cammack writes, “Bruce’s service, compassion, and friendship touched countless lives.”
In addition to his advocacy for veterans, Borders was a TV20 viewer who often reached out to the newsroom to share information about North Central Florida.
“Chicken Man was a longtime friend of the station, and someone I enjoyed speaking to frequently. He loved his family, his animals, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and North Central Florida. He was a one-of-a-kind character, and I’ll truly miss him,” said TV20 News Director Jon Levy.
