Congresswoman Cammack Issues Statements On House Amendment To S. 1605 & House Amendment To S. 610

December 8, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This morning, Congresswoman Cammack issued the following statement on last night's votes on the House Amendment to S. 1605—the FY22 NDAA—and the House Amendment to S. 610—Sequestration, PAYGO, and the Debt Limit Package.

On The FY22 NDAA:

"I want to thank the lead Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Mike Rogers, for his leadership on this piece of legislation. I join dozens of my colleagues in celebrating our collective, constructive work to get it across the finish line," said Rep. Kat Cammack. "Together we kept our promises and removed dangerous red flag laws and woke policies that would establish unnecessary programs at the Department of Defense. This bill counters China, holds the administration accountable on Afghanistan, and ensures we fund our military and Florida National Guard. I'm proud to support it."

"Rep. Cammack has been an ally in Congress for our troops. The NDAA is critical for our nation’s security, which is why it continues to have bipartisan and bicameral support," said Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL), Ranking Member of House Armed Services Committee. "The FY22 NDAA strengthens our national security and provides servicemembers with the funding and tools they need. I thank Rep. Cammack for her continued support for our servicemembers."

On The House Amendment To S. 610:

"No one should be surprised that congressional Democrats have done it again: they've attached a debt limit increase to possible cuts to Medicare. They know that there is broad support on both sides of the aisle for mitigating large portions of these cuts, but Democrats included partisan provisions regarding the Statutory PAYGO and debt limit in their text. Republicans have offered alternatives that protect seniors and other populations to avoid damage to Medicare, but the Democrats wouldn't go for it, instead deciding to play political games. We cannot vote for a debt limit increase and urge our colleagues to the right thing to ensure our seniors aren't affected by this partisan nonsense."
