Congresswoman Kat Cammack Honors Fallen Heroes On Memorial Day
GAINESVILLE, FL – Today, Congresswoman Kat Cammack (FL-03) honored fallen heroes in a Memorial Day ceremony in Green Cove Springs.
The event, hosted by the City of Green Cove Springs, included a presentation of the colors by the Green Cove Springs Police Department, an aerial flyover by the Dreamland Squadron, and proclamations for Memorial Day by Mayor Ed Gaw, local Boy Scout Troop 577, and proclamation presentations by representatives from Naval Air Station Jacksonville and the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast in Jacksonville.
"It was my honor to attend this annual tradition in Green Cove Springs today. Over the last week, I've had the privilege of marking this solemn day all across Florida's Third Congressional District, reminding me of today's true meaning," said Rep. Cammack. "For centuries, brave men and women across this country have dutifully served in our nation's military, knowing that they may never return home. It is their willingness to pay the ultimate price that makes this country so great. We truly are the land of the free because of the brave."
Earlier in the week, Congresswoman Cammack attended and spoke at the Clay County Board of Commissioners' Memorial Day Ceremony. The event featured a presentation of the colors by representatives of the United States Marine Corps and a flag folding presentation by the Filipino American Veterans Association.
Congresswoman Cammack also met with Gold Star families in Florida's Third Congressional District as part of her recognition of Memorial Day.
Said Cammack of her time with the fallen heroes' families: "Hearing the stories and celebrating the lives of these patriots who gave everything is indescribable. Knowing that there are Americans all across this country who would not give a second thought to putting everything on the line is just one of the reasons why we honor their memories and cherish their heroism with reverence."
Cammack also delivered a special Memorial Day message viewable here.
