Rep. Cammack Joins Sen. Rubio, Florida Delegation In Letter Calling On Navy To Provide Timely Records For Retiring Sailors In Florida
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL-03) joined Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) in sending a letter to Secretary of the U.S. Navy Carlos Del Toro regarding sailors retiring in Florida struggling to access hard-earned benefits due to unjustified U.S. Navy paperwork delays.
The letter states, “Sailors should be able to count on consistent payment and timely benefits. While the Navy has stated that operations to consolidate personnel for efficiency may have caused the delays, the practical outcome is delayed receipt of a key document and associated benefits that are building blocks for sailors establishing a new foundation for life after active duty...Failing to live up to the government’s end of the bargain on taking care of service members also exacerbates the existing recruitment crisis the Navy and other branches are facing.”
Original signees of the letter include U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (FL) and U.S. Representatives Kat Cammack (FL), Bill Posey (FL), Brian Mast (FL), Carlos Giménez (FL), Greg Steube (FL), Gus Bilirakis (FL), John Rutherford (FL), María Elvira Salazar (FL), Mario Díaz-Balart (FL), Mike Waltz (FL), Neal Dunn (FL), and Scott Franklin (FL).
