Rep. Kat Cammack Issues Statement On Syrian Air Strikes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Kat Cammack issued the following statement on the air strikes in Syria:

"President Biden speaks out of both sides of his mouth. On one hand, he unilaterally weakened sanctions against Iran but used U.S. military force to destroy Iranian-backed militia facilities. This is complete hypocrisy.

"The president cites Article II of the Constitution for this move. But Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 gives Congress the authority to declare war. For too long, we've allowed the executive to use military force across the world, forgetting that Congress has the authority to do so. Just last week, the House voted to repeal the 2002 Iraq War Authorization and I'm glad many of my colleagues agree that we have to get back to ensuring Congress has the final say."
