WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Kat Cammack announced plans to introduce legislation to create tax-free savings accounts for individuals and families purchasing their first homes.  

The NEST (Next-Generation Equity Savings Tool) Act would assist first-time homebuyers in overcoming financial barriers, especially the challenges related to down payments and closing costs. Individuals and families could save money on a pre-tax basis, with no tax upon withdrawal, if the funds are used to purchase a first home.  

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) response regarding H.R. 1750, the Defending Domestic Orange Juice Production Act of 2023 introduced by Rep. Scott Franklin (R-FL-18), Rep. Cammack raised several important issues central to the Florida citrus industry. 

GAINESVILLE, FL — Congresswoman Kat Cammack led 14 of her colleagues in a letter to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack about needed USDA actions to support farmers and rural communities devastated by Hurricane Helene. The letter requests FSA strike teams, the use of more accurate rainfall data, and disaster aid provided through block grants. 

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida's Big Bend region at the end of September and made its way through the southeastern United States, impacting Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee.

GAINESVILLE, FL — This afternoon, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04) joined Congresswoman Kat Cammack (R-FL-03) and Congressman Neal Dunn (R-FL-02) for a visit to the areas in North Central Florida devastated by Hurricane Helene. 

The group took an aerial tour of the damage, viewing Cedar Key, Suwannee, Horseshoe Beach, and Steinhatchee from above. Hurricane Helene made landfall last Thursday evening, dumping heavy rain that generated 18 feet of storm surge along the coastal areas in Florida's Big Bend region.
